A – The KANGAL.
Some of you have written to say that the excessive technicalities is removing the fun in the general Dogs Arena.
However it is necessary that we dwell a while on this topic even if boring because this foundation is necessary for proper understanding of your dogs and the dogs you come into contact with.
In the first part of this write up, we informed you about the PSI-Pound per Square inch figures of bite force of some breeds of dogs.
In this second write up we will focus now on effective dog bite force.
In the first write up,we wrote that Mastiffs – The English,Bull,Spanish and most of the large thick boned large headed Mastiffs including the Boerboel had the second highest bite force of Dog breeds after the Kangal and higher than the Rottweiler.
However the measured bit force is not effective,or rather the measure bite force is the force the dogs molars exerts when it bites.
This is a food bite, not a bite bite.
What we mean is that Dogs bite people and other animals with their canines and front teeth in general and not their molars.
Dogs like the Kangal, German Shepherd dog, Doberman get better bite force results than dogs with broad thick heads.
This is because in dogs with head shapes like the Wolf of spotted Hyena, the frontal bite force is more concentrated than in dogs with broad faces.
Also some dogs with under-bites like the boxer, the bull dog, will have very low frontal( canine) bites, even though they may have huge molar bites.
*Please note that the Wolf has a much higher bite force than many domestic dogs for this same reason.
The Wolf has a weak waist an this is it’s undoing in combats with the Kangals and it’s fellow LGD’s(Life Stock Guradian Dogs) that we wrote about in a previous article.
And so in conclusion we have another reason to thumbs up to the KANGAL for this dog breed has the highest effective bite force of any dog breed!
